The journal publishes original research, systematic reviews and policy papers in strategic studies, political economy, international relations, security studies, development and governance, legal studies and digital media. It welcomes work that joins methodological rigour to applicability in public policy, and accepts submissions in Arabic and English on equal terms.
Everything the journal publishes is free to read and download from the moment of publication — no subscription, no registration, no embargo. The journal undertakes never to place published content behind a paywall at any later date.
Editors, reviewers and authors are bound by the accepted standards of research integrity: confidentiality of manuscripts, disclosure of conflicts of interest, declining to review where a connection to the work or its authors exists, and attributing every work to whoever produced it. Allegations of misconduct are handled on a track independent of the review process.
Every manuscript is screened before it is sent for review. A manuscript found to contain substantial plagiarism is rejected and the author's institution is informed. On submission, the author declares that the work is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
An error that does not affect the findings is handled by a correction notice linked to the original article. A substantive error or established misconduct leads to retraction with a visible notice, while the original text remains available and marked as retracted — the scholarly record is corrected, never erased.
The journal keeps its content on the institute's infrastructure with periodic backups, and undertakes to deposit it with an independent preservation service so that articles remain available even if the journal ceases to publish.
